Installing Windows 10 on a PC Using Rufus: A Step-by-Step Guide
Are you tired of using an outdated operating system and ready to upgrade to the latest version of Windows 10? Installing from an ISO image with Rufus is a reliable and straightforward process that will have your computer up and running in no time. Here’s a step-by-step guide to help you through the process.
What You’ll Need:
- A Windows 10 ISO file (downloaded from Microsoft or purchased separately)
- Rufus (free download from the official website)
- Your PC with an internet connection
- A USB port on your computer
Step 1: Create a Bootable USB Drive
First, create a bootable USB drive by creating a new folder and copying the ISO file into it. Then, go to Rufus (downloaded from the official website) and select the USB drive as the destination for your installation.
To do this:
- Open Rufus and click on “Select Drive” in the left-hand menu.
- Select the USB drive you created earlier.
- Click on “Browse” to choose a folder for the installation files.
Step 2: Create a Bootable USB Drive from the ISO Image
Next, create a bootable USB drive by creating a new folder and copying the contents of the ISO image into it.
To do this:
- Open Rufus and click on “Create” in the left-hand menu.
- Select “Windows 10 as the operating system”.
- Choose “USB Drive” as the destination for your installation.
- Click on “Browse” to choose a folder for the USB drive.
- Copy the contents of the ISO image into the new folder.
Step 3: Prepare Your Computer
Before installing Windows 10, make sure your computer is in a stable state. You’ll need:
